  1. George Washington is the highest ranking member ever of the United states military as a 6 star general. 1789-1797
  2. John Adams created the United States Marine Band in 1798. 1797-1801 
  3. Thomas Jefferson had 6487 books/invented the swivel chair. 1801-1809
  4. James Madison was 5’4, weighed 100 pounds, and loved ice cream so much he had an ice cream shop built on his property. 1809-1817

  25. William McKinley had a parrot named “washington post” who could sing opera and greeted visitors at the door.  McKinley loved carnations and wore them as good luck.  The legend is that when he took it off he passed away a week later.  1897-1901

Theodore Roosevelt had difficulty sitting still and was the youngest president in history.  He was shot during a speech and refused to stop the speech until he was finished an hour and a half later.  He was so popular that toy makers would make teddy bears after him. He went blind in one eye after a boxing match.  He lost his mom and wife on the same day.  He was the first president to win the nobel peace prize. 1901-1909.

  29. Warren G Harding went on vacation the day after he got elected. He helped women and children with health care and died only 2 years after being president from food poisoning. 1921-1923
  30. Calvin Coolidge was president when the country was doing well. He made it a law that native Americans are citizens. He lost his son when he was 16 and dealt with depression. 1923-1929
  31. Herbert Hoover inherited a country that was struggling. Many Americans had lost all of their money. He helped build national parks. He also helped handicapped children and those who were unemployed. 1929-1933
