Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo Oo

Perhaps one of the most well known Christmas songs is Jingle Bells.  The song composed in 1857 by JS Pierpont has come down through the ages to win the hearts of all people.  We would now like to take you on a journey to relieve the glorious history of this famous melody.

First we visit sophisticated England in the 19th century.  JOLLY GOOD!

Fa la la la la la la.  Fa la la la la la la la.  Fa la la la la la la la la la la.  Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh. Fa la la la la la la.  Fa la la la la la la la.  Fa la la la la la la la la la la.  Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh. FA LA LA LA LA!

The melody finally arrives in America greeted by ice cream parlors, walks in the park and bicycles built for two.

P1:  Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.  O what fun it is to ride in a one horse open bicycle built for two built for two.

P2: Daisy daisy, give me your answer, true.  For you’ll look sweet on a bicycle built for two.

In the 1920s came flappers, the Charleston and speakeasies, and jingle bells might have sounded like this:

Jingle Bells! Jingle Bells!  Jingle All The Way! Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh, hey!  Jingle Bells!  Jingle Bells! Jingle Bells All The Way! O what fun it is to ride in a one horse open, one horse open, one horse open, BOOP BOOP A DOOP, SLEIGH!!

It’s the 1940s!  It’s time for the Andrew Sisters, Big Band, and Boogie Woogie Jingle Bells!

Jingle jangle jingle jangle jingle bells.  Jingle jangle jingle jangle jingle bells.  Jingle jangle all the way, jingle jangle.  O what happy fun it is to ride along and sing a song a sittin’ in a one horse sleigh, jingle jangle. Jingle jangle jingle jangle jingle bells.  Jingle jangle jingle jangle jingle bells.  Jingle jangle all the way, jingle jangle.  O what happy fun it is to ride along and sing a song a sittin’ in one horse, sittin’ in a one horse, sittin’ in a one horse sleigh. OH YEAH!
