Women Are History Makers #32025

  1. RUTH BADER GINSER: RBG fought for equal rights for women and was one of 9 women out of 500 students at Harvard.
  2. KAMALA HARRIS: Kamala Harris made history as the first woman and Black American to ever hold the position.
  3. ROSIE THE RIVETER: Rosie the Riveter was a fictional character and symbol of women’s contributions to World War II. The character was inspired by real women who worked in factories, shipyards, and other war industries. 
  4. STATUE OF LIBERTY: The statue represents the freedom and liberty of the United States democracy. The figure is modeled after a Roman goddess named Libertas. The torch she holds high represents the enlightenment of the world. There are also broken chains at her feet that symbolize the United State breaking free from tyranny.
  5. WONDER WOMAN: Wonder Woman is a popular character because of her powerful combination of strength, diplomacy, and representation of female strength in a traditionally male-dominated superhero genre, making her a beloved icon
  6. SALLY RIDE: Sally Ride, born in 1951, became the first American woman in space, inspiring many to pursue careers in science and engineering. She went on to write science books for kids, and she also continued to advocate for girls and women in science after her time as an astronaut. 
  7. MAYA ANGELOU: Maya Angelou was an African American author, poet, and civil rights activist. Her life is an example of overcoming obstacles and using your voice to make a difference. 
  8. AMELIA EARHART: Amelia Earhart was a pioneer of aviation. She was the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean. She disappeared during a flight in 1937 and was never found.
  9. ROSA PARKS: . Rosa Parks was an African American civil rights activist. By refusing to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama, she helped spark the American civil rights movement. Her action led to a successful protest action—the Montgomery bus boycott of 1955–56. Parks became a symbol of the power of nonviolent protest.
  10. TAYLOR SWIFT: is an American singer-songwriter. Having sold over 200 million records globally, Swift is one of the best-selling musicians in history, the most streamed woman on Spotify and the only act to have five albums open with over one million copies sold in the US. Swift is an advocate for artists’ rights and women’s empowerment, and has inspired numerous music artists. In 2024, Billboard ranked her at number 2 on its “Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century” list.
